The cases tried on those two days (21st & 22nd) were tried with a show of justice, that for the past six months has been unknown in this County. During one of the first three days of the last session of the Court Mr E K Harris (Com Atty) while plading made use of an expression like this: viz: That he was in favor of sending as many of the Niggers to the penitentiary as possible". And the juries seemed activated by the same motives in proceeding in their reckless course of dispensing a pretense for law, under a name, they called Justice i.e. during those first days. Very Respectfully Your Obdt Servant Geo W Graham ASA Comr Bur &c 3d Div 11th Sub Dist Va. Thro. Hd. Qrs 11th Sub Dist Va
