In compliance with Par. VI. Cir. No. 10. Series of 1866, I have the honor to report the following case of felony, before the County Court of Mathews County Va November term 1868.

Grandison Woolridge Deft

On an indictment for taking stealing and carrying away one canoe valued at $100.00. The property of one Thomas S Hudgings. Prisoner plead not guilty. On evidence educed Jury returned a verdict of guilty. Prisoner sentenced by court to three years imprisonment in the state penitentiary at Richmond, Va. Subsequently on the recommendation of the Court, Com. attorney and myself the culprit obtained through the clemency of His Excellency Gov. Wells a full pardon, and is now at liberty

During November term of the County Court of Gloucester County there were no trials in which freedmen were concerned
