Respectfully returned with the information that there is but one Freedman in the sub-div by the name of Aleck Henderson. He resides in Charlotte, is married, has five children named Rufus, Charlotte, Narcissa, William, and Amanda. His wifes name is Charlotte. He has lived with her (50) fifty years.

Bureau R.F. & A.L.
Charlotte N.C. Dec 10/66
Respectfully returned to the Asst Commissioner N.C. through Col Jon R. Edie U.S.A. Supt with the following information. The Aleck Henderson mentioned in Bvt Maj Norton's Endorsement is not the man spoken of in the endorsement of the Asst Supt at Charlottesville Va. for he says he never had but one wife and she is now with him. But I find that he has a son name Rufus Johnson (now Henderson) who once had a wife whose name was Jane Johnson and had children named William, Amanda, and Elizabeth. He states that the last he knew or heard of his wife & children was that they were living in Bowen County in this state. This Rufus is married again and his former wife's children are not with him. Neither does he know of their whereabouts. I think myself this must be the man referred to by the Asst Dept of Charlottesville.
