sent during his life time. I asked him two or three times He promised me to to fix it. Did not tell him how much he was to pay for year; although the farm rented for ten (10) dollars per year during my husbands life time. My son Cary Crawley lived on the place nearly 16 years without paying any rent. He died in Fall of 1865 I first asked my son Cary Crawley about five (5) years after he had been living on the place for the rent. It was about three weeks after Minah Jackson got married that I ordered him to leave the place. My husband left no will. I have possession of the whole place - about 125 acres.

John Crawley, Sworn
My name is John Crawley. Am the son of Mrs. Lettie Crawley. My brother Cary Crawley lived on this farm about 16 years. Never paid any rent to anyone to my knowledge for said place. Cary Crawley never made a bargain with any one to my knowledge to pay rent for said place. Some of my brothers and one or two of my sisters entered into an agreement with my mother to allow her the use of the place during her lifetime. My brother Cary never entered into this agreement. To the best of my Judgement Cary occupied about 15 acres of the farm, which contains about 125 acres as I have been told. My brother Cary was about 25 years old when he first occupied the land.
