J Baker (white) not appearing to offer any defence [[defense]] the court
unanimously decided that he pay to John Willis 
and Miles Sewell (Col) one dollar a day (the amount 
claimed) for the use of the skiff.

Charge Stealing
Please Not Guilty

Robert Ruffin (Col). Plaintiff being duly sworn deposeth
as follows. am owner of a grist mill about two miles
from Yorktown, Va. employed Robert Jibbs as miller
was at the mill about sunset July 3rd 1866. saw there
four bags of corn belonging to J. Baker, was there again
between 9 and 10 O'clock and found every thing correct
Jibbs kept the key of the mill and on closing brought
it to me. went next morning and found but one 
bag in stead of four. Was told on thursday morning
that the mill had been broken into. Asked Jibbs 
about the corn who said he did no know what
became of it. said it was there when he locked the
mill for the night. Told "Jibbs" he could hold him accountable for the corn.
