happened, and did not get home until yesterday  I came up on the Boat, I was in Hampton on Saturday, where I met my boy. I did not know that he had any money as I only saw him for a short time, did not think it strange, for him to be there, as there was a large meeting there, and there were several of the Yorktown folks, at the meeting  I did not notice his clothes, particularly, I know he had on a new hat, but did not think that strange  I did not receive any money from him, and did not know he had taken the money until I came home, and he was then under arrest.

Coleman Dennis. (cold.) states I borrowed eighty cents from Coulson a few days ago. I did not notice that he had a large sum of money, he treated me often during the last week. I went with him to Hampton on the Boat. I paid my own fare, was not with him all the time, he treated me several times, in Hampton.

Iveson Hobdy (cold.) States Juba Burril, came to me last Monday night, and said Mrs. Coulson wanted me to go to Hampton after Howard, and bring him home and not let him spend any more of the money than he had already spent. I met him just beyond the Halfway house, coming home, told him Mrs. Chipman had lost money, and he was accused of stealing it, which he denied.

The Court decided to sentence the accused Howard Coulson Jr. to ninty (90) days at hard labor, at such place as the Agt. of the 5th Sub Disct. may direct.
