John Burbridge (cold.) vs. Mary Winder (cold.)
Claim for children

John Burbridge, being duly sworn, states, I and this Lady, parted Fifteen years ago, we were not married but lived together for a few years, and had two children which she kept with her, as we did not belong to the same Master. I have been married twice since then, have a wife and five children now. I offered to take her back since the war, but she refused, to live with me. I have not done anything towards the support of the children, since we parted, but wish to have the children in my charge.

Mary Winder being duly sworn states, John never done anything for me. I could not live with him he was always drunken and worthless, the children are all the support I have. I have a husband but he is a very old man, and not able to do much of anything. and I have worked hard to raise these children, they are now at an age, that they can help me, and I do not know what would become of me, if they were taken away, from me.

The Court unanimously decided that the two children were to remain with their Mother and and that John Burbridge has no claim to them whatever.
