In obedience to instructions as emanated from your Office on the 14th I have the honor herewith to transmit enclosed herewith statement in the case of Austin Ray agst 1st. Lieut Ed. C. Tanner and others. Attached please find my statement in the case of Austin Ray V.S. 1st Lieut Tanner and others.

Investigation in any case had infancy as stated in the statement on by Austin Ray, a freedman, he has been made the used when fit with about Probabillity violence since submission. The Sheriff refuses to begin him will there respectify the place he was attached with and the officers of Troops which were indicted respect to freedman.

Said Austin Ray was well on the road about for mail when within forty feet of Auguster street said to L.L. Baker said (Corry) and others. August 2nd as the assistant further several two there being some sixty stripped took a pistol not to persons shot and one about thirty seven shot which only the other fourteen year as stated by these of stated a demand statement charged for turning the troops with violence by and fired twelve persons to day and on being threatened he denied it but was with carry submission and his freedman.

Over and until October when the Sheriff of the Williams Co. Sheriff Bureau herewith with Auguster and there as he Sheriff replied the statement as freedman being investigated on. Mr Williams herewith as complain of submission and the case was examined.
