State of Mississippi Knoxbee County Articles of an Agreement between Jas T Permenter of the county & state afforesaid of the first part and Thomas Neill freedman of the same county and State of the second part witnesseth The conditions of this contract between the Above named parties is as follows I Jas T Permenter of the first Part dos rent to the Above named Thos Neil freedman of the second part as my tenant in comon for the year 1867 A certain portion of land after first building & setling said Thos Neil freedman upon the premisis of myself Jas T Permenter upon those conditions the said Thos Neil is to suffer no disonest or unworthy freedmen to visit or lie About him or that is disposed to lofer and Secondly he is to behave himself to said Jas T Permenter of the first part and treat him with respect and his family likewise and further the said Thos Neill freedman is to take from Jas T Permenter the piece of land to cultivate in cotton known as the brick yard field containing six acres moor or less & all so four Acres of new ground adjoining moor or less on the N W side of the brick yard field and cultivate in cotton allso and further takes the field joining the Ditchpiece So called known as the sandy land or what pach piece containing of 8 Acres moore or less and to cultivate in corn which I the said Thos Neil freedman Agree to take all of the Above named land and cultivate it well and in dew  time with plowing & hoing & at my entire expense after first paying the said Jas T Permenter in work for plowing up and planting all the Above named land & further I the said Jas T Permenter do give to said Thos Neil freedman a garden to raise his vegitables  & a pea pach & a potatoe pach entry in our trade and free of any rent and fees then the said Thos Neill freedman is to house his crop raised as above discribed and on conditions named in dew time and is to have from the said Jas T Permenter to be divided upon the premises where raised one half of the cotton
