I therefore respectfully ask that out of the cotton now in your possession 16,800 lbs after the same is ginned & packed and all expenses incurred in the preparation of the same you turn over to me my 9 Bales and a sufficiency if so much there to be to pay the taxes as according to my written contract with Williams

P.S. Where I rented to Williams I did so under the belief that the crop would be liable to me for my rent and therefore took no security as under the law then & now in force in the Civil Courts every thing raised on the land is liable for the rent
