Noxubee County Miss December 16/67

Dear Sir I was [[strikethrough]] I [[/strikethrough]] was notified by Sandy Moore Freedman that he had authority to call upon a man or men to make a settlement between himself Sandy Moore and other Freedmen they being one party and F.B. Greer the other party a Gentleman who they cropped with this year on Land rented from my wife in part amounting to 78 acres for which he gave a promissory for the amount 3/2 dollars pr acre to paid [[strikethrough]] buy [[/strikethrough]] by the first of dec or any time before the removal of the crop, one other note made payable to C.E. Anderson a daughter of mine for 69 dollars which has been transfered to my wife Mrs. E.C. Anderson and one of conditions of note is that I am agent for the collection of both, the cotton raised on each field has been gined on my wifes gin and delivered at the depot and it is said by the bearer of to be sold at 8¼ Cents per pound. now I have this request to make of you, which is that you refuse the purchaser to move the cotton until rent is paid as well as a final settlement with the freedmen, as I should most assuredly have taken steps to do so had I not been unwilling to come in conflict with the authorities of Cty, for any other particulars in the matter I refer you to bearer of this Sandy Moore. please drop me a line per S. all of which is respectfully submitted
