Give be mortgage of all Cotton and Corn raised by them on the Joby place to James Longstreet of New Orleans, in consideration of $2500.00 advanced by Longstreet to carry on the farming

Respectfully transmitted to Lieut Merritt Barber A A A Genl Bureau R.F. & A.L. for the information of the Asst. Com'r and his orders in the premises, in view of his endorsement of Dec 1st directing that "the entire crop of Hendrix & Dobbins be held if necessary to satisfy the wages of laborers for their labor this year."
There now remains but 24 Bales of Cotton worth $900. or $1000 and $1630 worth of corn sold to Mr Ivy & amount paid yesterday to Mr. W.D. Longstreet while the claims of the freedmen amount to between $30.00 & $40.00
