all, I drew from Messrs Bevil and Paterson, thirty dollars in cash, a draft on Buck & Fuller of Mobile for fifty dollars & their due bill for twenty dollars which sums I paid over to Mr R.C. Phillips in order to extinguish an enrolled lien he held on the crop for supplies furnished to raise it [[strikethrough]] The am't of this lien was [[/strikethrough]] This lien was given to secure the payment of a debt of $177.90 & called for (3) three bales of cotton which at the time payment was made worth from one hundred & fifty to one hundred & eighty dollars. I succeeded however in procuring the release of the freedmen from any further liability for the above debt, as show by my receipt from Mr Phillips a copy of which I enclose.
   
A balance of One hundred dollars still remains in the hands of Bevill & Pateson. Mr McCrutchen claims this under Cirs 22 & 24 as part payment for supplies furnished to run the place. His acct
