Your Communication of 1st inst in hand, I regret to learn that such reports as complained of has reached you in regard to this County, and would hope that such things are not true of any citizen of this County. Today our County Court has been in session and I have seen and enquired of persons from all parts of the Country including three of my deputies, and Mr K P Boseman Presd. of the Board of Registrars, and can learn of but one single instance in which even a threat has been made to drive freedmen from the plantation and crop, for voting the Republican Ticket. I go tomorrow to ascertain the facts in regard to that case and will report to you; I will all I can
