A.Q.M. & D.B.O. Bu R F & A L
Vicksburg Miss

Captain:
Last winter I transported Capt. John Williams Agt. Bu. R F & A L from this place to Louisville together with all his office furniture. I charged him twenty five Dollars ($25.00) and charging was all I have ever received. I have writen him and he says the vouchers have been forwarded to you. Will you be so kind as to tell me why they have not been paid, and while you are writing tell me something about the Fifty ($50) of Col Ross.

I am hard up. My wife is sick and I am hard run. I think the Gov't ought to pay a poor devil a few dollars.

Yours Respectfully
A.J. Simmons
