Although unknown to you I beg to submit a matter and ask your opinion.
  
Immediately after the surrender Mrs. L.R. Prince my mother-in-law had apprenticed to her by the advice of the Bureau agent two boys, colored orphans, whose Father and mother were dead. One of them ran off some time since and went to a bro-in-law of mine, and is there yet by consent of Mrs. Prince who lives in my house. I am security on the bond, and have the government of the boy Harris Prince. About two weeks ago he left my premises and strolled about over the country for a week. I never corrected him - told him I would do it, if he ventured such a proceeding again. The other morning he left again and stayed until just before day on the subsequent morning. One of my old servants came to me and told me that Harris must be corrected by some one, that he was going to destructing.  I told him to go and
