Complaint about a debt of $7.75, Summon  parties to appear.  Case settled by giving a lien on his crops for the amount in full

25  Jerry Washington cold vs L.W. Magruder May 16th/68
Complaint of having been ejected from Magruders with loss of all pay, from the 1st of January 1868, up to May 15 1868, for having stolen from the garden some few heads of lettuce. Summoned parties to appear. Compromised the matter with Mr Magruder by making Freedman appologize, & earnestly promising never to steal again. under the penalty of being sent away from the place, with no source of compromise Satisfied

26  Charlott Brooks cold vs David Sutter May 18th/68
Complaint for having been ordered away from the place by Mrs Jutter with threats & abusive language, saying she would shoot her &c, wrote to Mr Jutter & ordered girl back to her work, & requested Mr Jutter to see that his wife did not meddle with the girl again, as she had done nothing to justify any one to send her away from said place with loss of pay

Complaint of having been ordered away from her work & his place.  Summoned parties. I failed to see any cause why it should be done, I therefore tolled him that she must go back, or that he must pay her well for the work she had done since the 1st of January 1868. Concluded to take her back & do what is right

28  Martha Carter cold. vs. S.L. Coon  May 19 /68
Complaint about being driven away from the place and refuses to pay her any [[?]] for the work she had done. Summon parties to appear Case investigated, she being very old and only to get $25.00 for the years work, also having taken up some in clothing I ordered Coon to pay her $5.00 and the cloth, which was done, she did not want to go back under no consideration.

29  Pleasant Patience cold vs William Jones May 20 /68
Complaint that she dare not go vote of the house for fear of being atacked by him for having reported him to me about her pay for 1869. Summon parties, and made him sign a certificate to keep peace towards her.
