101 26 Charley Hays col'd v.s. David Carter Complains having been ordered from place because he would not allow himself to be searched. Case investigated No foundation for complaint. Case dismissed. 27 C. B. Wolf col'd v.s. Mrs. P. Sims Complaint about a debt of eighteen ($18) dollars due Wolf's wife for cooking. Summoned parties to appear. Case investigated and settled by Mrs. Sims paying Cash Fourteen ($14) dollars Parties Satisfied. 28 Isabella Lewis col'd v.s. Wilkinson County Complaint that her property has been advertised and about to be sold for taxes unbeknown to her: taxes only amounting One and 50/100 ($1.50) dollars cost for advertising One and 90/100 dollars - total amt. $3.40. Sent for Sherriff. Case investigated and settled by paying Sherriff the amount Parties satisfied. 29. P.P. Brywin v.s. Mr. E. Johnson white Complaint for having written a vulgar and threatening letter for, Mary Robinson, to James M Griffin Freedman Teacher, which caused the dismissal from school of Mary O. Robinson, Summoned Parties to appear. Case investigated and settled. by shortly reprimanding Miss Johnson 102 30 Hartley Hardison Colored vs. George T. McGehee White Complaint of being discharged from place. Upon investigation, it proved that Hardison was principally at fault, and McGehee was authorized to discharge Hardison. Case settled by Hardison signing written acknowledgement of his fault which was to be read in presence of all the hands upon the place. Upon which Hardison was permitted to return and resume labour as formerly engaged upon Mr. McGehee's place. 31 David Carter, Colored, vs Charly Hays, White Complaint of being discharged, for having come to Woodville to Register. Investigated the case and being satisfied of the injustice of the discharge required Hays to receive Carter back on the place which request was complied with by Hays, and case settled by return of Carter to his work 32 William Owens Colored, vs S. McCoy White Complaint of being discharged from the place for coming to Woodville to Register. Ordered White to appear and have the case investigated and settled before me, which order he complied with, and the Case was amicably settled and the man Owens returned to his labour on the place. 33 Adam Seldon, Colored. vs. Westley Mews, White Complaint of being ordered off the place with loss of what work had been done, for having come to Woodville to Register, I wrote to Mews to permit Seldon to remain upon the place and fulfill agreement or to appear appear before me to settle the case. Settled case by permitting Seldon to remain without any investigation
