The within name of Robin Roy and Edward Locust worked the land of Wm. Brown during the year 1866 on shares employing the boy Daniel Tinsley and each agreeing to give him $20 for his work. Brown was to board him. It was understood when Daniel left that Brown was to see that he was paid as he sold his Tobacco Crop. and the boy expressed himself as being satisfied with the arrangement. Brown does not think he will be able to dispose of his crop under a couple of months.
He has already paid Daniel Tinsley $8.50 on acct Enclosed please find promissory note for the balance $31.00.
William Brown colored is a man of considerable property and being of upright and reliable character I apprehend no difficulty in the payment of the man.
