Brown with the recommendation that Five Dollars ($5.00) per month rent. and Fifteen Dollars for repairs, be appropriated for the room occupied by Mrs Dr Brown for a colored school in accordance with her request in a letter dated Mch 14th inst. Mrs Browns. enterprise has the endorsement of Revd Dr. Nunnegrode and other clergymen and gentlemen of Richmond. as well as that of Revd Mr Alvord Genl Supt of Education. It is not deemed expedient at this season of the year. to attempt the erection of a school house at Charlotte C.H.

This case was investigated by me only this far. Harry Wormly Col. complained to me some time ago that Mr Simcoe had his children and would not give them to him, but told me that they were not bound to Mr. S. I then wrote to Mr. S. asking him to deliver the children to Harry Wormley (Col.) which he refused to do saying they were bound to him: after investigating the case I found that Lt Chas H. Scott 11th Me vols my predecessor, had bound the children to Mr Simcoe as the father had abandoned them and gone north ++++ Harry Wormely has not been to me since.
