Bureau of R.F and A L
Office Chf Q M and D.O.
Richmond Va Mch 27. 67
Respectfully returned to Brt. Brig. Genl. O. Brown Asst. Comr. with the information that having been instructed to find a building suitable for a school for white children and learning that the Metropolitan Hotel was for rent, I informed you of the fact and visited the building with you, It being considered suitable I was directed to rent it at the lowest possible price. I saw the agents for the building who asked $1000. per annum. but finally concluded to rent it to the Bureau till July 1st 1867 at the rate of $800 per annum which was accepted and we took possession of it November 7, 1866. As the building was leased of the agents, and as Madame Sakooska had Surrendered to them the key it is not believed that she can have any interest in the lease, although it is admitted that thro' information obtained from her the building was hired for $200. less per annum than was at first offered to the agents Attention is respectfully called to the enclosed letter of names of Messrs Isbell and Davis agents for this Building.
