Respectfully referred to Bvt. Brig: Gen'l Orlando Brown, Asst. Comr. state of Va. with request for authority to purchase one horse for the within specified use. The number of horses belonging to the Bureau in this Sub. Dist. at present is insufficient to supply the wants of the services. It is particularly necessary at the present time, that Lt. Murphy on account of his double duty of Registering and Bureau Officer should be furnished with a horse.

Respectfully returned to Bvt. Maj. Remington, S.A.C. &c. This case was tried by B.A. Armistead Justice of the Peace, A. McCotton who is Mrs. Willis' landlord sued out the warrant and introduced Mrs. Willis as a witness on the trial. Mrs Willis was not the complainant as she should have been. No objection was made at the time of the trial by the complainant or Mrs. Willis to having the parties bound to keep the peace. Mrs. Willis not being the plaintiff in the former trial, she can sue out a warrant for the arrest of these parties for their assault on her.
