Respectfully returned to Maj. J.R. Stone, S.A.C. & with the information that I have at last ascertained that the within named Wm McThereon is at this time living with a colored woman named Harriet who resides on the plantation of Wm Leitch.- near New Canton, Buckingham, Co. Va.

I would respectfully recommend that this boy be returned to his mother as the woman with whom he is living, is not capable of making proper provisions for him.

Respectfully returned to Bvt. Maj. J.R. Stone S.A.C. with the enclosed order signed by Hannah Jackson as requested. I would state that the said Hannah Jackson came to this office twelve days ago with a letter from Mr. Chas. Spencer cash & which stated that $15 had been sent to the [[?]].F.S. & Co. Richmond, Va. by her son Robt Jackson from Texas, subject to her order, and which could be paid her on the presentation of the "Certificate of Deposit" issued in Texas. This she had not received, I at once wrote to her son Pn. Robt Jackson in Texas to forward it or see that it be done to & have received no reply. Hannah Jackson desires the money sent to my care.
