Merrell of the Freedmen's Bureau - Having made all possible inquiry and not be able to find he had parents living, he (with other orphans) was sent by order of Gen. Brown to Phila. in April 1866, and received at the Home for Colored Children in that city. From there he was taken by a gentleman living in Delaware. (Sgd.) Anne Gibbons Bu. R.F. & A.L. Hd. Qrs. Dept. at this Post (Mr. Jaggard) to go his security for a suit of clothes - the bill over $30. - he failed to pay which Mr. Jaggard paid, and which remains unpaid by J.C. Knowles. (Sgd.) Jas.
