Office Military Com'r

Burkesville, Va. June 12th 67
Respectfully forwarded to Col. S.F. Chalfin, A A G 1st Dist attention invited to within report, and his instructions respectfully requested to consider that this case should be taken cognizance of by a military commissioner. As the Civil Courts cannot act in less than 1 month and in the mean time the property will be disposed of which will deprive the laborers of their wages, the party who gave the bill of sale has since acknowledged it to be a fraud, but there is still no remedy in the civil courts to unless the laborers institute a suit and engage council, which they have not the means to do. I would recommend that immediate action be taken.
