Respectfully returned to Bvt. Maj: J.R.Stone, S.A.C. the case of Wm. & Adelaide Holeman, with the following report. I received their letter of May 23rd 67 (referred) just in time to reach Powhatan C.H. the morning of the day appointed for the sale of the property of Wm. Holeman (decd.), examine the records, & get to the place for said sale before it had commenced. Enclosed please find a copy of the last Will & Testament of Wm. Holeman deceased, which will explain the steps that Mr. Wilson Winfred was taking in the matter.
I had a talk with Mr. Winfred relative to the matter and learned that the land was not to be sold unless a fair price was offered. After some other property was sold at Auction the land was put up, but not sold.
The children were present all save one, I had a talk with them and they expressed themselves perfectly satisfied with the manner in which Mr. Winfred was executing their fathers will, and in my opinion he is doing so honestly and judiciously. William & Adelaide stated they had been misled by persons in no way interested in the case.
