Respectfully forwarded to the Commanding General, thro Office Asst. Comr. This F.G. Jones has tried since the harvesting of the crop involved in this suit to defraud these men; he drove some of them from his place, and insolently repulsed all attempts of the late Asst. Supt. Lt. Yeckley to effect a settlement. So plain was the case that a jury of his neighbors gave the judgment against him. He has doubtless made a bogus sale of his 565 property. The means of these laboring men are exhausted by the suit, & they are in want. I respectfully submit that enough of the property in possession of P. Granfield Jones when the services were rendered, should be seized, and sold to pay these men. It would have a salutary effect on all of a class who are trying to enrich themselves from the earnings of the poor. (Sgd.) J.R. Stone Bvt. Maj: & S.A.C. Bu. R.F.& A.L. Hd. Qrs. Asst. Comr. Va.
