Martinsville, Va. June 11th 67

Respectfully forwarded to Capt. R.S. Lacey S.A.C. 7th S. Dist. Va. with the following information. The boy Sandy Nichols has no Father or mother living and has no other relatives than this old man Lorenzo D. Spencer. Mr. H. C. Wootten, the man to whom the boy is indentured formerly own the boy, and had him bound by the Agent of the Freedmans Bureau at that time, as coming under the class without Parents or Legal Protections. This old man Lorenzo has applied for the boy several times and I have no doubt but what he has a strong affection for him as the son of his only daughter. Mr.Wootten I think would cancel the indentures for a sufficient pecuniary consideration, to indemnify him for his expenses.
