I made this the subject of a communication to the Asst. Comr. some time since; in a personal interview with him subsequently, he informed me that a clerk for the office of Col. Jordan could not be allowed. If a clerk for a Division of four Counties cannot be allowed, I respectfully ask that said Division be made two, and an intelligent agent or officer put in charge of Cumberland and Buckingham Counties. Col. Jordan cannot do the clerical work required in so large a District, in addition to his registration and election duties.
