War Dept. Bu &c.

Office Mil. Comr. Albemarle Co.
Charlottesville, Va. Sept. 13th 1867.
Respectfully returned to Hd. Qrs. 1st Mil. Dist. (thro. Hd. Qrs. Sub Dist. Richmond) with copies of the act of Lannahan & Son as submitted by Mr Prentis Trustee and the Bill praying for an injunction as filed by Jos. Tinsley.
As the books of Lannahan & Son are in Baltimore, their place of business it is impossible for me to ascertain whether their account against Tinsley is correct or not. I therefore respectfully recommend that the matter be turned over for further investigation to the Freedmens Bureau, with the request that Bvt. Major General Gregory Asst. Comr. for Maryland be instructed to examine the books of Lannahan & Son for the purpose of ascertaining whether their account against Tinsley as submitted herewith be correct, and if it be, their books will show that fact, as the dispute his in that point.
The case is truly one of hardship and I have no doubt Tinsleys property will be sacrificed but if the account of Lannahan & Son be correct they certainly are entitled to some show.
