Brown Asst Comr. with the information that the twelve acres alluded to in the within petition, have been occupied for the purposes stated by the Federal authorities since June 1st 1865, and that five additional acres were used for Hospital gardening and other purposes from April 1st 1867. to November 1st 1867. - The value of this land is variously estimated, but the taxable valuation, I am informed is about 200$ per acre  
The papers mentioned are not forwarded, as they are simply expressions of opinion as to the marketable value of the land.

Dec. 10th 1866 Judge Thomas assured me in a conversation on this case some time ago that he would recommend the commutation of this sentence, and I would respectfully recommend that these papers be forwarded to Governor F.H. Pierpoint, with the request that the sentence be commuted to imprisonment for a term of years
