Respectfully return to Bvt Major Edw L. Deane, A.A.A Genl, with the information that I called to see Mrs. Avery, at Ebernezerville, she informed me that she had the money, but the girl was not in her employ at present, nor had not been for a long while, but that I would find her on the plantation of David Garrison, about seven miles distant. The original recommendation for two hundred dollars, was changed to one Hundred by representations of Mr. Stradling, the Supt of Education, he thinking that the latter amt would complete the house.
There is no doubt now, but that the $100. additional asked for is necessary for the completion of the work, and if it is the judgement of the Asst Com'r, so much money should be expended on one building, I would recommend the expenditure on this.
