I notice in your issue of this morning under the head of "Military Arrest" that your information in regard to the cause of the same was very indefinite the man from Choctaw Ala. (I withold his name out of respect for his family) whom I arrested yesterday went into the private room of the Ladies who are engaged in teaching the Freedmens School here and grossly insulted them - An Officer on duty with me asked him what he meant by such conduct whereupon he made an assault upon him and I arrested him and sent him to the "Lock up" I kept him there a few hours when his friends called and politely asked me to release him and they would vouch for his conduct. I did so upon his promise to apologize to the Ladies which he did. The "Chester" called at my office to day and now said he recognized his watch this morning and that the Pocket-book he claimed to have lost he found in his Book.

Very Respectfully
