Sir:
Complaint has been made to this office by bearer that you compel her to work in the Field where as she has only hired to you to work in the house and that on Thursday last you cursed and kicked her and threatened to knock her Brains out she also states that this treatment has been your course for some time  It is unnecessary for me to inform you that such actions upon your part are not to be tolerated and if true must not be resorted to again  I would respectfully inform you that if this woman or any other hands you may have working for you neglect or refuse to work faithfully that by applying to this Office we will take such measures as will protect you in your rights while at the same time such treatment of your Employees will require the Officers of this Bureau to bring you before the Civil Courts for trial for the offences committed. I would respectfully ask that you make a written statement or call in person at this Office and answer the complaint of the bearer.

entered a complaint in this office against one Mr Hand of Newton Co the case is such that it merits the attention of the Civil Authorities. I have the honor to request that you take her statement and issue a writ for the Parties as they are liable for the Damages she has sustained by their action. an early attention to this matter is respectfully requested. I would also state that any action showing a desire to deny the bearer her rights will be immediately reported to Maj Gen Woods Comdg the Dept of Miss.

I have the honor to inform you that the society by which the teachers of the Freedmans School at this place are employed has revoked their appointment and unless some means are devised the school will close at the end of this month It is desirable that the schools should be continued until the first of July and therefore respectfully ask that an appropriation of $60 be made by the Bureau to retain the services of Miss Ada Warren and Miss Jarvis during the month of June. an early answer is respectfully solicited.
