I have the honor to inform you that an affidavit has been filed in this office setting forth that your Son in Law Mr Mitetull struck a Freedwoman named Susan and that when she left your place you refused to let her have her children - You are hereby directed to make a statement to this office without delay charging by what authority you detained her children and by what authority you locked them up at night

Complaint has been made to this Office by "Betsy" a Freedwoman that has been in your Employ that you beat her with a Large Hickory Stick Cutting her head and that you have been treating her badly ever since she has been to work for you.
You are hereby directed to settle with her for the time she has been to work for you and allow her to leave your place and take her children with her a prompt report of your action in this matter to this office is respectfully requested

In compliance with instructions from Maj J.J. Knox Sub Com District of Meridian I have the honor to inform you that if you desire to discharge Green and his Wife (as from your expression it is thought you desire) you must pay him $12 1/2 a month and his Wife $9 a month for the time that they have been in your employ This does not allow you to charge them with what you have furnished them to eat
