Sir I have the honor to inform you that an affidavit has been filed in this office setting forth that your Son in Law Mr Mitetull struck a Freedwoman named Susan and that when she left your place you refused to let her have her children - You are hereby directed to make a statement to this office without delay charging by what authority you detained her children and by what authority you locked them up at night Respectfully Yours Jno. You are hereby directed to settle with her for the time she has been to work for you and allow her to leave your place and take her children with her a prompt report of your action in this matter to this office is respectfully requested By Order of Maj J.J.
