Captain
I have the honor to inform you that it has lately been reported to me by different persons that as soon as the troops now on duty at this Post were relieved an attack would be made upon the Officers of the Bureau by the citizens. I believe it to be true and should the Commanding General deem proper to order them away I respectfully asked that I may be relived also

Very Respectfully

Sir
I am directed by Maj Knox Sub commissioner of this District to inform you that the bearer "Robert" has complained at this office that you have driven him away from your place because he took his wife from her work in your kitchen; According to the contract presented by "Robert" you have no claim on the services of his wife and your excuse for discharging him is considered insufficient, and you will retain him in your employ or pay him for the services he has already rendered you

In case the matter is not properly understood, any statement you may wish to make will receive due consideration.
