I have the honor to report that I am on duty as Sub Commissioner District of Meridian by Sp. Orders No 73. Hd Qrs Dept of Miss, Bu R.F &  A L, Office Asst. Commissioner, State of Mississippi, dated Vicksburg, Miss, July 20th 1866.

I have the honor to forward herewith for approval and payment vouchers for wood purchased and issued for the use of this Office during the month of October 1866, for Stablehire and for postage paid from the 1" of Sept. 1866 to Octbr 31" 1866 inst.

I would respectfully request to be informed [[strikethrough]] whether [[/strikethrough]] what is considered as allowance of fuel for the Offices of Sub Comm'rs. My Office is a very large room, and there being no stove but simply a fire place, a much larger quantity of wood is consumed, so much indeed, that less than two cords will by no means be sufficient during the month when colder weather sets in.
