You will forward to this office without delay a statement setting forth the reasons why you have failed to transmit your official correspondence thro' the proper channel — as for instance: your communication to Bvt Major 
A. W. Preston, A A A Gen Bu R.F and A L, dated November 17th, 1866 — contrary to orders from this Office and in direct violations to instructions from Headquarters, Dist of Mississippi, Bu R.F. and A L, explained in endorsement dated Novb 13" 1866, on a communication to said Headquarters.

Sir,
Having been requested by Mr R. E. Wilson of Lawrence, Newton Co. to inform him, thro' you, whether any action has been or is expected soon to be taken in the case of Henry Murphy, a freedman in his employ, I would beg leave to say that all the necessary papers in this case have been forwarded to Bureau Headquarters at Vicksburg, and that the orders for transportation &c of said Henry Murphy & attendant are daily expected at this office.
