Sir,
The bearer of this, Frances White freedwoman wishes to have served out a writ of "habeas corpus" for the recovery of her four children named "Jerry" "Laura" Georgiana" & "Henry", all of whom she says, are illegally held by their former master, Robert White, contrary to her consent.

She says, she is fully able to take care of her children.

You are respectfully and officially requested to act in the matter.

I would respectfully ask whether some more copies of Circular No 19, Hd Qrs Dist. of Miss. Bu R.F and AL, dated Nov. 17. 66 could be spared, for if so, I would request to be furnished same. As this Circular is of general interest for the farming communicty, frequent applications for copies are made at this Office, and I should like to distribute as many as could be spared among the country-people in my District.

I have had one copy left of the 30 received

On the 28 day of Sept utl orders "98341 & 98342 for transportation for Cornelius Carroll and wife white refugees, from Lauderdale, Miss, to Memphis, thence to Toledo, O. were received at this Office. Shortly after the arrival of said parties at Lauderdale they left and returned to thos city where they thro' the agency of the civil authorities were admitted to a kind of Hospital or Poorhouse. Here they remained for awhile, but having since, as I ascertain, left for parts unknown, deem it my duty under these circumstances to return said Orders which I herewith respectfully enclose.
