11 Bureau Refugees Freedmen and A L Office Sub Asst Comr Sub Dist Miss Meridian Miss July 29. 1867 Beall Charles Mr Clarke Co Miss Sir, Complaint having been made at this office by Eliza Elizabeth of Enterprise that you have in your possession and custody a child of hers named Georgina which you have held without her consent since 1865 You will therefore open receipt of this deliver up the said child Georgina to her Mother Eliza Elizabeth without delay I am Sir Very respectfully Your obdt Servt Thomas H Norton Bvt Maj. Merd'n Meridian Miss July 29 67 Bearfield Mr Sir Complaint is made at this Hd Qrs that you have threatened the life of Arthur Young freedman and that other White persons working on the Banes Plantation have committed trespasses on his grounds You are informed that any unlawful or wrongful action taken by you or others against this freedman will be investigated and if supported by Evidence will be punished by Military authority I am Sir Very Respectfully Your obdt Servt Thomas H Norton Bvt Maj USA Sub Asst Comr 12 Bureau Refugees Freedmen and A.L Office Sub Asst.
