173 he (Riffle) was transferring his property in Kewaunee evidently with the intention of defrauding his creditors. When Mr Riffle appeared at this office yesterday he was accompanied by an Attorney and exibited a decided disposition to contest the matter. His property consists of a Saw Mill and Sash and Door Factory against which there are attachments amounting to (2400.$) Two thousand four hundred dollars - to my certain knowledge To attach any part of his property I have no doubt would please him, as he seems inclined to keep the freedman out of their dues as long as possible - but if he could be made to believe that the property would be sold at once to satisfy the claim it might force a settlement. I respectfully inquire what course to pursue I am. Sir- Very Respectfully Your Obt Servant Andrew Thomas Agent Sub District of Meridian 174 Bureau Refugees Freedmen & A.
