War Department,
Adjutant General's Office,
Washington, D.C. January 26. 1874

Lieut J.K. Myer, 18th Infty,
Disbursing Officer,
Columbia, S.C.

Sir:

In answer to your letter of the 17th inst. inquiring respecting the furnishing of fuel for the use of your office, I have to state that, your duties as disbursing officer being in connection with your ordinary post duties, it is not seen that special provision for fuel is necessary. If, however, the Qr. Mr. Department cannot furnish the necessary fuel, you will so inform this office.

Very respectfully
Your obedient servant
Thomas M. Vincent
Assistant Adjutant General
