Joseph K. Hyer, 18th Infantry Columbia S.C. Dear Sir. Since my return another party has requested us to collect a claim for him- The facts are as follows: The claimant was Joseph A. Pierce. Corporal of Company "I" 55 Massachusetts, Volunteer Infantry Hartwell Col. (Brevet Brigadier) & Major Nutt. Major commanding. Joseph A. Pierce, who is now deceased, before his death sold to Jacob Bronson his claim, which can be proved by two witnesses (disinterested) of the same regiment as the claimant; he gave to Bronson his "Discharge" which
