NARA 287 1st Lieut Jas K Hyer, Columbia, S.C. Dear Sir, I reply to yours of 11th Inst. Since writing to you before I find that I made a mistake in regard to the given name of Mr. Blunt. I have not seen him since receiving yours but have learned from his Sister that his name is Monroe instead of Moses. He goes by the name of James M Blunt, he can give his military history, in fact gave it to me when I last saw him, which was before writing to you, but not writing it down I forgot it. But is not this man James M Blunt entitled to both bounty and Pension? He was in the Mexican war, was wounded in the leg by a poisonous ball and is now disabled. I will write to the Hon. Commissioner of Pensions in regard to the matter. Thanking you for your information I am yours Respectfully J.E. Massey. Ft Mills S.C. March 18th 1874
