I respectfully report that of the list of forty-four claimants reviewed by me Oct 5th 1872, eight of the claimants reside in that portion of Kentucky where the claims are payable, under [[?]] of War Department Sept 2nd 1872 at Lexington Ky, and five claimants are payable at Bowling Green Ky. Of the eight claimants payable at Lexington I have been able to find five (5) and the five claimants payable at Bowling Green, I have succeeded in finding four, including Marshall Chandler, whose case I referred up for instructions. If it is thought desirable to pay those claimants at Lexington and Bowling Green [[?]] ready for payments. I respectfully request authority to designate a time for payment at the two places and to proceed there for payment I am [[?]] A. D Howe, Majr[[??]]
