Dear Sir

The claim of Patsy Lee widow of Hiram Sproggins Co K 39 Regt U.S. Infy Certificate No 590.212 for $93.01 has not yet been rec'd. My fee as her Atty for $7.50 has been rec'd.
 
She is anxious to get her Check. Her P.O. is Stanford Lincoln Co Ky

2, Claiborne Taul father of Frank Gaskins Co A. Sixth U.S. Colored Cavalry had a claim allowed, and he was notified by Brvt Maj Genl Howe disbursing officer at Louisville that he was ready to pay off his claim, by his providing his identity as the father. I went with Taul to Louis as his Atty to assist him as he was old and ignorant. The proof was not considered sufficient or in strict accordance with his instructions for him to pay the claim & advised him that he would pay him at Lexington, when he could furnish the proof. I left Louisville & the next day Taul took small pox & died leaving
