NARA 146 Evansville Ind. Mar. 7th, 1873 To the Honorable Secretary of War, Washington, D.C. Sir: My name is Kissy Taylor, my son Jim Kilgore was a member of Co. H, 6th Regt. U.S. Col'd, Cav, and died while in the service June 1865, Since hearing of his death I have lost much time, been at much trouble & expense in trying to collect the amount owe me from the Government a mother of said deceased Soldiers. When I made my application I lived at Caseyville in Union County Kentucky but moved to this place - Evansville Ind. in March 1872, After years & expectation and delay I finally received where by a communication dated Second Auditor's Office April 29, 1872. That certificate No 584.915 for $310.14. payable to me as Mother of the decd, had been issued in Settlement query claim for Bounty & Back Pay, From that time to the present I have not been able to hear anything of my Certificate or money, I have caused letters to be written to Washington, and to the Disbursing Officer at Louisville but can get no answer Except from the said Officer at
