Louisville Ky, who says that my name is not on his Books or Rolls, it citizen of this place while in Washington last Summer made an effort to learn something of my case. To find out how & when I could get my money he saw the Asst. So if General Vincent and represented to him my case in full, and urged that it might in some way be settled but could learn nothing - Except that it was very doubtful when anything could be done - at least to the gentleman informed me, I have authorized the Second Auditor to send a check on draft for my money to any National Bank into any General Official this place with instruction that it be paid only in complete and satisfactory Certification, but nothing has been done and no answer received.

In the mean time I have been, during a large part of the time since arriving here, Independent on Public & private Charity, having been confined to my bed by sickness for five (5) months and kept from Starvation by the "Overseen of the Poor" I am now better but not able to attend to my customary work - washing and ironing, My Son has bee dead nearly eight years, I have spared no effort to secure the payment
