Sir:
Your circular of the 24th inst. notifying me that my claim for pay & bounty had been settled and that I had to appear at Bowling Green, some day hereafter to receive my money has been recd.

This latter requirement I beg leave to say is a misfortune on me and ought not be insisted upon. It will cost me $6.00 to go and come besides lost time and [[dieting?]], which it is not right to require me to lose, there being many persons here who attend to the matter for me without charge. Can you not send the papers to James A. Wallace Cashier of the Bank of Hopkinsville or to G.B. Long, assistant U.S. Assessor or to S. N Burbridge post master or to some county or city officer of this
