Affiant Robert Blain states that his age is fifty five, that he is a resident of Lincoln County Kentucky That he is an Attorney at Law, and as such was prosecuting a claim for Claibourne Saul father of Frank Gaskill Decd private Co A. 6th United States Colored Cavalry, against the Government of the United States for amount due him as the father of said Gaskill for military services in the war of 1861, 2 &c That said claim was allowed and said Claibourne Saul was notified of the fact, and that the disbursing officer Genl A.P. Howe was ready to pay him his claim thus allowed at Louisville Ky. That said Taul was then a citizen of Lincoln County Ky. and in the month of December 1872 said Claiborne Saul with affiant went to Louisville Ky to receive the money due him from the United States, and after remaining there a few days, without getting his money, he took small Pox and on the 10" day of December 1872 he died in the Pest House with said disease. Affiant states that he was acting as the agent of said Taul in this claim, and that said Taul died leaving a widow, Mary Taul and two children David Taul and James Taul living in Lincoln County
